Moving Supplies FAQs
Determining the exact number of boxes you'll need isn't an exact science, unfortunately. One of the best ways to help figure out how many boxes you'll need is to go room by room and try to envision what all needs to go in a box. Different size boxes will fit different items and each item will weigh different amounts so be sure to keep that in mind as well. Some experts estimate roughly 15 boxes per room. Here's just a few tips to get you going:
- Estimate ONE box for every shelf or drawer in the room. Heavier items should go in smaller boxes.
- Specialty boxes are great for televisions, artwork and mirrors.
- Wardrobe boxes typically hold 3 feet of hanging items each, so measure the length of your closets.
- Don't forget to include your seasonal clothes!
- Estimate roughly ONE dish-pack box and kit per shelf of dishware.
- Also, don't forget those items in plain site like books on coffee tables, end tables and counter tops.
- It's always better to have a few extra boxes than not enough so you don't end up overfilling and have items end up breaking during the move.
Our storage office is the easiest place to pick up any boxes you might need for moving. We carry small, medium and large sizes in addition to a wide selection of moving supplies. At Night Owl we try to make your move as simple as possible!
